Pivot Percussion LLC is a small Orlando, FL based company that started in 2023. We are performing musicians, so our goal was to make a foot drum for performing musicians that is affordable, works well, and is easy & comfortable to use.
When we set out to make the world’s best foot drum there were three main areas of focus. The first was leg fatigue. Our unique “pivoting” shape was designed to make use of the body’s natural walking motion by utilizing our leg’s strengths to function and eliminate the dreaded shin pain that comes with most foot percussion instruments. Let’s face it, it’s hard to avoid the burn. But with the Pivot Pedal you use the same motions and muscles you do when you’re walking, thus reducing leg fatigue and shin pain.
The second area of focus was ease of use. The Pivot Pedal is a simple plug-and-play device that works on a passive electromagnetic capsule embedded in the impact zone of the instrument. The use of this technology eliminates the need for a power source… each stomp or tap creates the energy necessary to make the sound, so say goodbye to power plugs and batteries! Simply plug the Pivot Pedal in-line with your instrument, or directly into your PA/speaker and you’re ready to rock. It’s that simple.
Third, and most importantly, is the sound. It must sound musical, right? Not just a knock or thud… but a custom crafted deep-bass kick drum sound that puts an exclamation mark on every beat of your music… and that deep bass is exactly what you get with our kick drum sound. And there’s no better way to accent your kick drum than with a raspy snappy shaker sound that could only be born from a snare drum and a maraca having a baby. Ok – we didn’t try that, but the shaker sound we gave birth to hits the mark perfectly!
And finally, as a nature conscious company we strive to use reclaimed lumber to build our eye-catching pedals. There is already so much wasted wood in this world, so we set out to give that good wood a new life making music!
